Our Co-opIncorporated August 21, 1986, we are located immediately above the 407 on the North East corner of Guelph Line at 3000 Driftwood Drive in Burlington, Ontario.
We are close to all amenities, only steps from No Frills grocery store, a pharmacy, bakery, convenience stores bus stops, schools and more. |
Our CommunityWe are a community of neighbours with over 75 members. We represent
a diversity of ages, cultures and backgrounds. We volunteer within and ourside our complex to create a safe, vibrant and supportive community for everyone. |
Our HomesWe have a number of amenities including a community center with kitchen, basketball nets, fenced backyards, green space, gardens and greenhouse. Parking is included.
Each home has a full kitchen and bath, as well as a fridge and stove. Pets are welcome, upon approval. |
Co-operative Homes Difference...Applemead Co-operative Homes was formed in 1986 by people and stakeholders who came together to create safe, at-cost, quality housing for themselves and/or others in the Burlington.
A housing co-operative is governed under the Housing Co-operative Act of Ontario therefore residents are members, not tenants and there is no outside landlord. It is controlled by its members who have a vote in decisions. We elect up to 7 of our members to take on the volunteer role of governing director of the co-operative. Applemead members may run for the board, elect a board, receive audited financial statements showing how the co‑op spent money, approve by-laws and major policies, and live at Applemead for as long as they like, if they abide by-laws and rules agreed on by the members. The Board contracts our property management company and delegates many of the co-op's day to day responsibilities to property management. The Board also contracts and oversees the maintenance and landscape company. Volunteer committees, compromised of members of Applemead co-op members assist the Board to make Applemead a great place to live. Our strong volunteerism spirit often supports other Burlington initiatives. We also partner with other organizations to help create a vibrant community. |
